When we returned from Germany, we spent one night in a hotel. From the next day on, we were allowed to use a house for missionaries who temporarily return to the Netherlands. God is good! We can stay here till the end of March. The house is fully furnished with even toys for the kids and bicycles we can use. The kids also are allowed to borrow a pedal kart from the neighbors.
In the meantime, I (Selmar) have visited Nicaragua and Costa Rica with my brother-in-law Jon. We were able to serve the churches there in various meetings and house visits. Also, we investigated possibilities to cooperate with these churches and sent a team of people from Harvest Church in North Dakota there in March. We got to know new people, strengthened the relationship with others, laid hands on the sick, prayed for people and were allowed to lead a woman to Jesus after she was able to forgive trauma from the past. Furthermore, we visited all kinds of ministries of the local churches, like a ministry among the kids of the most criminal part of San José and a house where men and women are helped to get clean from drug addictions. Is was a trip of big contradictions. Very poignant was when we noticed that a family we visited at home one late afternoon was very grateful for the drinks and the fried chicken we brought, because they had not had any food yet that day. The poverty and spiritual need are real.
We keep expecting a miracle with regards to our visa. We currently have no idea how long this will take, but know that God promised to provide and that He keeps His promises.
